Fantasy Football review

At the start of the season, I wrote a post about players to think about for the new season for fantasy football.

Whilst I picked a few gems, such as Harry Kane and Graziano Pelle, I also picked Mauro Zarate and said to avoid Diego Costa, so don't always follow my advice!

A review of Fantasy Football 2014/15

Goalkeepers:- As I said before the season, the top keepers for fantasy football, don't often come from the top teams, and so it was again of the top 5 points scorers, only Joe Hart was from a top 5 team. Fabianski (Swansea), Heaton (Burnley) and Mignolet (Liverpool) were the top 3 with only 2 points between them. Adrian who I mentioned in my guide, was 5th, Foster and Forster both could have been up there but got injured.

Surprise stat:- Of players playing more than 10 games, Pantilimon (Sunderland) had the best points to minutes played ratio, Tom Heaton (Burnley) was the best points to price pick.

Defenders:- Terry and Ivanovic, were far and away the standout performers, they played every game, scored goals and kept cleansheets. Behind them, there were some surprises, Everton defenders Jagielka, Coleman and Baines were all up there despite Everton's poor season.

Surprise stat:- The best value points to minutes was Kolarov (Man City), but you would have struggled to know when to pick him, in City's rotating side. Points to price, still puts Terry on top, followed by Lescott and Trippier, who were the more value picks.

Midfielders:- Once again, midfielders were the top points scorers, Eden Hazard was the class of the field bringing home 233 points, followed by Alexis Sanchez who totalled 207 points. Of those playing 10 or more games Frank Lampard was the best value points to minutes. Stewart Downing, Nacer Chadli and Ki Sung-Yeung were the best value buys, points to price.

Surprise stat:- Ahmed Elmohammaday was the only midfield player to play every minute of the season.

Strikers:- Sergio Aguero was top points scorer, which is unsurprising, as he also won the golden boot. He also tops the points to minutes, which is due to his injuries, with Cisse (Newcastle), Murray (C Palace), Jovetic (Man City) and Remy (Chelsea) also doing well in this index. The value picks were unsurprisingly Harry Kane, Charlie Austin and Sadio Berahino.

Surprise stat:- Jamie Vardy (Leicester) was the striker who created the most goals, with 12 assists.
